Jo Rowell was born and raised in Glossop, Derbyshire, in the North West of England. Having spent the 1990’s as a ‘perpetual student’ in Aberdeen and Sheffield, Jo moved back to her roots and trained as a GP at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. She has continued to work in Glossop and the surrounding area for the past 25 years, as a GP partner, salaried and locum GP.
Jo has always taken a keen interest in education, ever since undertaking work experience as a teaching assistant aged 17. She became a GP trainer in 2006 and took on the role of Primary Care Medical Educator at Stepping Hill Hospital before moving to her current Associate Dean and Deputy Foundation School Director roles.
When not at work, Jo enjoys baking, reading, going for walks and the odd sudoku.
