THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF PAEDIATRICS AND CHILD HEALTH

Effective Educational Supervision (EES)

2nd  October 2018

Sheffield Children's Hospital

The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health are hosting an EES course in Sheffield on 2nd October 2018. The course is aimed at ST7 – 8, SAS and Consultant level paediatric doctors, and will be chaired by Dr Carrie MacKenzie, Consultant Paediatrician and Director of Post-graduate Medical Education, Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHSFT.

The course fulfils the General Medical Council's requirements for educational supervisors, and provides an introduction to educational supervision and updates on the RCPCH curriculum and assessments. Workshops explore career advice, supporting doctors in difficulty, managing the able trainee, giving constructive feedback and reflective supervision.

MANCHESTER MEDICAL SCHOOL

PRIME (Professionals in Medical Education)

The Medical School organises a rolling programme of staff development workshops and other events on a variety of topics (e.g. Problem Based Learning (PBL), clinical teaching, communication teaching, general teaching skills and group facilitation). All workshops are free of charge and open to all staff involved in teaching Manchester medical undergraduates. Most workshops are accredited for CPD points.

The Ottawa Conferences on the Assessment of Competence in Medicine and the Healthcare Professions were set up by Professor Ian Hart (Ottawa, Canada) and Professor Ronald Harden (Dundee, UK) in 1985. Held biennially, they provide a forum for medical and other healthcare professions educators to network and share ideas on all aspects of the assessment of competence in both clinical and non-clinical domains, throughout the continuum of education.
