I am a part time general practitioner working in a three partnered practice in Hadfield, Derbyshire. I have been involved in medical education throughout my career, initially as an Anatomy demonstrator for medical students and more recently as a Primary Care Medical Educator for GPST1 & 2 on the Stockport Vocational Training Scheme. I have been a GP trainer since 2006 and attained the Postgraduate Certificate in General Practice Education in the same year.
I was appointed to the part time post of Associate Postgraduate Dean in August 2011. My portfolio roles include:
- Supporting the Director of Medical Education at Pennine Acute NHS Trust to help ensure quality management of local postgraduate medical education.
- Supporting Foundation year doctors
- Working with the SAS doctors Advisory Group and supporting SAS doctors educational needs
- Supporting the service interface between the Deanery and local Clinical Commissioning Groups.
I am also actively involved in commissioning and am a board member of Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group with a jobshare role as Clinical Lead for Urgent Care.
