The purpose of Core Surgical Training is to allow the resident doctor to develop the basic and fundamental surgical skills common to all surgical specialties, together with a few specialty-specific surgical skills.

Attendance at teaching is mandatory and resident doctors are required to attend a minimum of 70% (8 full teaching sessions).
All teaching sessions will be 8.30am – 4.30pm unless otherwise stated. Teaching will be a hybrid programme with mixture of virtual and face to face sessions.

We also run Cadaveric Prosection courses, Human Factors courses and a trauma course throughout the year and core surgical resident doctors are given the option of booking a suitable date. These dates change every year and will be released once finalised.
